History of Hardwood Logs
Simon started the business in 1989 with a chainsaw and axe, when he decided not to pursue a career in farming. Jackie “married into” logging in 1997 and the business has grown year on year through hard work, and constantly reinvesting in the development and growth of Hardwood Logs Ltd.
The business has established a reputation for quality, reliability and a friendly service. Hardwood Logs Ltd. is now the largest independent, family run supplier in Derbyshire with large range of wood fuel to choose from.
The business’s success meant we had to look at continued expansion over the years to satisfy the ever increasing demand for wood fuel and the only way to do this was to increase our processing capacity.
We acquired a “state of the art” Pinosa Firewood Processor from Italy in 2009 and housed it in a new purpose built building. To better serve the increasing number of customers we established a new sales area with increased customer parking.
This was achieved through a Rural Development Programme for England grant, delivered by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe Investing in Rural Areas. Simon and Jackie gratefully acknowledge the above agencies, whose support made our expansion project possible.
September 2019 saw another exciting development within our company with the launch of our new shop. Expanding our range from logs, coal and smokeless fuels. We are now stocking a lovely range of handmade candles and diffusser's from On a Wick and a Prayer, beautifully crafted wooden sculptures, log baskets, lanterns, and picnic hampers are just some of the unique, quality, locally made items on display. Set in a beautifully renovated barn within our farmyard.
